He was born Feb. 22, 1944, in Quincy, a son of William Irvin and Rosa Wanita Henson Rice. He married Sandra Sue Burrell on March 7, 1965, in Modesto. She preceded him in death on Feb. 12, 2011.
He also was preceded in death by one son, Carl R. Rice; two sisters, Peggy Jean Heedley and Linda Sue Birdsong; and one brother, James Rice.
Surviving are four sons, Kenneth William Rice Jr. of Plymouth, Jon Rice of Rushville, Don (and Ayana) Rice of Springfield and Michael Rice of Gridley; 24 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
He was an armature winder at General Electric in Saint Louis, Mo. He retired from Cargill Meat Solutions in Beardstown in 2013. He was a member of Rushville First Southern Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Pastor Matt McAnally officiating. Inurnment will follow in Rushville City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of services on Saturday.
