Betty ReedBetty Louise Childers Reed, 90, of Rushville died at 2:34 p.m. Dec. 24, 2020, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

She was born April 25, 1930, near Winchester in Scott County, a daughter of William Harvey and Suzannah Gladys Butler Hart. She married Lawrence Childers on July 30, 1949, in Winchester. He preceded her in death on Jan. 3, 2004. She later married Delbert Reed in 2009 in Rushville. He also preceded her in death.

She also was preceded in death by one grandchild, Misty Lynn Childers; one sister, Vera Davis; and three brothers, Murl, Burl and Harvey Dean Hart.

Surviving are six children, Peggy Najar of Llano, Texas, Dave (and Glenda) Childers of Chicago, Roger (and Cindy) Childers, Susan Childers and John Childers, all of Rushville, and Sara (and Dave) Baker of Monroe, Ohio; two sisters, Elizabeth Curtis of Camp Point and Henrietta Davis of Jacksonville; 17 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

She was of the Southern Baptist faith.

A private family graveside service will be held at Rushville City Cemetery with burial to follow. There will be no visitation. Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville is in charge of arrangements.
