She was born Nov. 17, 1926, the daughter of Laurence and Ada Troehmel Royer in Browning. She married James William Roberts in 1948.
Surviving are two daughters, Melinda Jones of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, and Becky (and Hudi Johnson) Savage of Rustin, La.; one son, Doug (and Beth) Roberts of Moundsville, W. Va.; and six grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother, John D. Roberts of Athens, Ga.
A 1944 graduate of Rushville High School, she went on to receive a degree in home economics from University of Illinois in 1948.
She worked as a dietician for Cook County Hospital in Chicago before a career pause to be a devoted wife and mother in 1952. Her husband’s career took them to many places including Illinois, Kentucky, Ohio, West Virginia, Alabama, Canada, California, North Carolina, South Carolina and Athens, Ga.
Following the sudden death of her husband in 1985, she resumed her career at Athens Regional Medical Center working in the business office and IT department retiring in 2010 at age 82.
During her years in Athens, she was an active member and Deacon Emeritus in First Christian Church of Athens, volunteer for Reading for the Blind and other Athens organizations.
Services were held Feb. 27 at her church. Bernstein Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Athens was in charge of arrangements.
