Donald RiningDonald Edward Rining, 78, of Browning died at 7:42 a.m. Feb. 8, 2013, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital.

He was born Aug. 10, 1934, near Browning, the son of Russel E. and Marie Keeran Rining. He married Audrey Lea Workman on Feb. 20, 1954, in Beardstown. She survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Marilyn (and Terry) McCoy of Browning; one son, Rick Rining of Springfield; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Janice Lea Mills; and one sister, Bette Rining Workman.

He graduated from Rushville High School and was a laborer with Caterpillar in East Peoria for 42 years before retiring in 1992. He also was a farmer for many years.

He was inducted into the Schuyler County Softball Hall of Fame in 1991 after many years pitching on a men's fast pitch softball league. He pitched his first game on the men's league at age 13.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Barry Scego officiating. Burial will be in Messerer Cemetery.
