Sterling RobinsonSterling LaVerne Robinson, 66, of Macomb died at 6:41 p.m. Feb. 25, 2008, at his residence in Macomb.

He was born July 8, 1941, in Rushville, a son of Marcus L. and Henrietta Campbell Robinson. He married Nancy Dubroc on Sept. 22, 1990, in Lake Charles, La. She died Aug. 13, 2004.

He also was preceded in death by two brothers, Edwin and Norman Robinson.

Surviving are one stepson, Donnie Basco of Glenmora, La.; and two sisters, Phoebe Jackson of Macomb and Doris (and Charles) Distefano of Pearland, Texas.

He graduated from Rushville High School in 1959.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corp from Aug. 31, 1960, to Aug. 6, 1964.

He worked as a security guard for Bridgestone/Firestone Corp. in Lake Charles for over 35 years before retiring.

He was a member of Beardstown American Legion Post #2910 and American Cancer Society.

He was of Christian faith.

Services were held Friday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Rev. Robert Greene officiating. Burial was in Rushville City Cemetery where military services were conducted by the U.S. Marine Corp Honor Guard and Schuyler American Legion Post #4.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Schuyler American Legion Post #4.
