ROSEMARY R. (WEBER) ROSE

Rosemary Rose

Rosemary R. Rose, 78, of Canton died at 8:05 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, 2001, at Doctors Hospital in Springfield.

She was born July 4, 1922, in Ipava, a daughter of Henry Block and Bessie Weber. She married Harold Rose on Oct. 25, 1953, in Canton. He died Jan. 6, 1986.

Surviving are four sons, Harold of Canton, John (and Julianne) of Pittsburgh, Ellis of San Diego, and Arden of Chicago; one daughter, Esther of Canton; one brother, Leland (and JoAnn) Block of Canton; one sister, Lily Stutsman of Peoria; and two grandchildren.

One brother, one sister and one son preceded her in death.

She graduated from Methodist School of Nursing and earned a bachelor's degree in biological science from Manchester College in Indiana and a master's degree in education from Western Illinois University.

She worked at Graham Hospital for 34 years, teaching and directing its School of Nursing.

She also served as a missionary in Austria and Germany from 1949 to 1953, relocating World War II refugees.

She was a member of the Church of the Brethren in Canton.

Services will be held today at 1 p.m. at her church with Rev. Kevin Kessler officiating. Visitation will be 30 minutes before. Burial will be in White Chapel Memory Gardens in Canton. Murphy-Sedgwick Memorial Home in Canton was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to her church or Graham Hospital School of Nursing.
