Bonnie Riggins

Bonnie J. Riggins, 53, of Vermont, died at 4:10 p.m. Thursday, June 12, 1997, at her home.

She was born June 12, 1944, in Havana, a daughter of Sam and Clara Bennett Richardson. She married James M. Riggins on Dec. 12, 1964. He died Dec. 22, 1989.

Surviving are two daughters, Ruth Lidwell of Canton and Rhonda Riggins of Vermont; one son, Richard “Rick” of Vermont; and one sister, Lucille Kepple, of Vermont; her stepmother, Nellie Richardson of Macomb; her mother-in-law, Grace Riggins of Vermont; one stepbrother, Richard Millard of Des Moines, Iowa; two stepsisters, Mary Lou Bland of Bardolph and Betty Jones of Woodhull; one brother-in-law, Donald Riggins of Macomb; and two sisters-in-law, Patricia Fugate of Industry and Mrs. William (Donna) Miller of Vermont; one granddaughter, Bailey Lidwell; and several nieces and nephews.

She lived most of her life in the Vermont area, and graduated from VIT High School in Table Grove. She worked at Western Illinois University in the telecommunications department for 16 years. She was a member of Rushville Assembly of God Church, where she was active in the Women’s Ministries and served as Sunday school secretary.

Services were held Monday at Vermont Christian Church with Rev. Marvin Chockley officiating. Burial was in Vermont Cemetery. Kost Memorial Home was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Rushville Assembly of God Church or McDonough District Hospital Hospice Program in Macomb.
