James Richmond

James P. Richmond, 82, of Table Grove, died Monday, July 8, 1996, at the home of his daughter, Alcinda Craft near Vermont.

Jim was born Nov. 8, 1913, the son of Raymond and Martha Critchlow-Richmond in Shelley, Idaho. He married Elizabeth Ann Taylor in 1938. She preceded him in death in 1988.

Surviving are two sisters, Courtney Thurston of San Diego, Calif. and Georgina Pray of Salina, Kan.; two sons, Phillip and Jackie Richmond and Curtis and Georgia Richmond of Table Grove; two daughter, Alcinda and George Craft of Vermont and Damaris and Art Mortvedt of Manley Hot Springs, Alaska; and five grandchildren, Deidre Andreas, Adrea and Paige Craft, Amy Birch and Jason Richmond.

He was raised in San Diego and graduated from U.C.-Berkley with a B.S. in Geology. He moved to Table Grove in 1941, where he farmed for 50 years. He was a member of the Table Grove Community Church and was active in the choir, Merry Mixers, Men’s Quartet and Kumjoinus. He served on the VIT School Board and Spoon River College Board, acting as president of each during his tenure. He was a member of the Table Grove Masonic Lodge No. 939 A.F.&A.M. Jim was an Eagle Scout and was Scoutmaster for Troop 108 in Table Grove. He spent his leisure time bowling, golfing, swimming, traveling and serving his community.

A memorial service will be held at the Table Grove Community Church at 9 a.m. Thursday with Chaplain Ron Green officiating. The family will meet with friends from 7 to 9 tonight at the home of Curt and Georgia Richmond in rural Table Grove. Cremation rites have been accorded. Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb is in charge of arrangements.
