Harry J. Ritter, 71, of Mossville, died at 11:15 p.m. Sunday, June 2, 1996, at Proctor Hospital in Peoria.

He was born Sept. 7, 1924, in Adair, the son of Harry Sr. and Susie DeMoss Ritter. He married Mary C. Klusman. She survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Stephen Ritter of Knoxville, Chris Ritter of Brookfield and Michael Ritter of Bartonville; four daughters, Sheila Kasik of Roscoe, Lynn Linn of Wheaton, Luan Rudolphi of Chillicothe and Kaye Schmit of Dunlap; three sisters, Betty Walters of Ottawa, Kan., Eleanor Thorne of Peoria and Mary Abernathy of Table Grove; and 14 grandchildren.

He was a millwright at Caterpillar Inc. in Mossville, retiring in 1992. He was a member of St. Edward’s Catholic Church in Chillicothe. A World War II Navy veteran, serving in the South Pacific, he was a past commander of the Table Grove American Legion. He also was a member of the Civil Air Patrol. He was a volunteer firefighter in Table Grove and Chillicothe Community Fire Department.

Funeral services were held this morning at his church with Rev. Gordon Pillon officiating. Entombment will be in Resurrection Mausoleum in Peoria.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Weber Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
