Russell Riebling

Russell L. Riebling, 84, of rural Lincoln, formerly of Astoria, died at 3:45 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 10, 1995, at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln.

He was born April 21, 1911, in Astoria, a son of Lee and Lizzie Gibble Riebling. He married Zeretha M. Garrett on Feb. 17, 1934, in Canton. She died July 21, 1992. One grandchild, one great-grandchild and one brother also preceded him in death.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Earle (Jeanette) Courtney of Quincy, Mrs. Kenneth (Nedra) Shuman of Lititz, Pa., and Lela Stelter of Lincoln; one brother, Dean of Littleton, Colo.; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

A member of Fulton County Farm Bureau, he farmed in the Astoria area. He was a member of Woodland Church of the Brethren near Astoria, where he served as an elder. He also was a member of Woodland Township Cemetery Board.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at his church with Kevin Kessler and Marianna Taylor officiating. Visitation will be 1½ hours before serviceds at the church. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to his church or to Christian Village of Lincoln.
