Gene Richardson, Former Astoria Postmaster, Dies

William Gene Richardson, 67, of Homasassa Springs, Fla., formerly of Astoria, died at 8 a.m. Monday, July 14, 1980, at the home of his daughter in Wichita Falls, Tex.

He was born Mar. 6, 1913, in Astoria, a son of Robert and Mayme Anderson Richardson. He was married on July 21, 1937, in Palmyra, Mo., to Margaret M. Danner. She died on July 13, 1974.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Thomas (Betty) Miller of Wichita Falls; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Lela Cassel of Astoria.

One brother died in infancy.

Mr. Richardson was Postmaster in Astoria for several years prior to his retirement. He was a member and Past Master of Astoria Lodge No. 100, AF&AM.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday morning at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Collis Trone officiating.

Visitation will be held from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday evening at Shawgo’s where Masonic services will be conducted at 8:30 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
