John W. Rose Dies At Rushville Hospital

John W. Rose, 81, of Bluff City, died Friday evening at the Culbertson hospital in Rushville, following a stroke on Tuesday night at his home.

Mr. Rose was an extensive land owner in Hickory township Schuyler county, and for a number of years had served on the Schuyler County Board of Supervisors.

He was born in south Woodland township, Fulton county, on Oct. 16, 1871, a son of Samuel J. and Mahala (Fike) Rose. He was united in marriage with Nellie Jane Curless, on April 9, 1893. To this union, three children were born, Mrs. Beatrice Snyder, Oak Park, Ill., Clifford Rose of Browning, and Mrs. Alice Jane Henninger of Riverside, Ill., all of whom survive, together with seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Rose preceded him in death on Sept. 5, 1942.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the Astoria Methodist church, conducted by Rev. Fred Thompson, assisted by H. D. Simmons, the pastor. Burial was in the family lot in the Bluff City cemetery.
