Aged Sheldons Grove Man Dies

Charles Rhoades of near Sheldons Grove, died at the Schmitt Memorial hospital in Beardstown, Friday, aged 79 years, one month and 16 days.

Mr. Rhoades was born near Astoria July 31, 1869, a son of Peter and Margaret Rhoades. He was married to Marinda Carter, March 21, 1889. She passed away Nov. 19, 1935. To this union seven chldren were born. Those surviving are: Mrs. Ida Kelly of Rushville; Earl Rhoades of Sheldons Grove, and Nellie at home. Besides his children he leaves fourteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren; also two sisters, Mrs. John Booth of Omaha, Nebr., Mrs. Belle Leach, Lincoln, Nebr., three brothers, John Rhoades of Astoria; Ira Rhoades, Atlanta, Nebr., Rolla Rhoades, Franklin, Nebr.

Mr. Rhoades lived all his life from the age of 21 at his farm home in the Sheldons Grove community.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Sheldons Grove church, conducted by Rev. H. D. Simmons, pastor of the church. Burial was made in the cemetery nearby.
