Death of Alex Robertson

IPAVA — Alex Robertson died at his home in Ipava at about 11 o’clock Friday night, April 21, after a brief illness of pneumonia, altho he has been in failing health for sometime. He was past 80 years of age.

Mr. Robertson was the son of Jesse and Elizabeth Robertson and was born 81 years ago this coming fall in Ipava, where he spent his entire life. He was a brick mason by trade, and had retired from his work after a number of years. He was married 57 years ago to Neva Cope. They were the parents of eight children, two are deceased, John, and Belle Kopp. Also two brothers, John and Alonzo and a sister, Mrs. Sarah Worley preceded him in death.

Surviving are his wife, three sons, Beryl and Parker Robertson, Ipava, and Herman of Louisville, Ky., three daughters, Mrs. Mary Hall, London Mills, Mrs. Ruth Fordyce and Miss Pearl Robertson of Ipava. Also 21 grandchildren, niece and nephews.

The funeral services were held Monday afternoon, April 24 at 2:00 o’clock in the Ipava Methodist church, Rev. E. E. Catlin officiating. Mrs. Edward Gray sang “At the End of a Perfect Day.” The pallbearers were his nephews. Interment in the Ipava cemetery.
