W. H. RAYBURN

W. H. Rayburn, Former Noted Evangelist Dies

Word was received here last week of the death of W. H. Rayburn which occurred at Belfast, Ireland on January 27, 1929, says the Industry Press. Mr. Rayburn’s death resulted from the effects of a broken hip and wrist which he sustained in a fall at his home two weeks before. Before receiving the injury which caused his death, Mr. Rayburn, who was 94 years old, was able to take his daily walks and was assisting with some work about his home when the accident occurred. He was buried at Belfast, Ireland where he had resided during the past twenty years.

Mr. Rayburn was a resident of Industry for a number of years, first coming here from Morgan county and organizing a congregation for what was called a Pilgrim church of which he was leader. He was associated in the work by Rev. C. A. Obenshane, who passed away here several years ago.

After the disorganization of the church here and at other places where he had a following, Mr. Rayburn engaged in the raising of fine stock and for some years was owner and lived on the farm just southwest of town, which was recently purchased by Jesse Grimm. Deceased left here twenty or more years ago for New York, later on going from there to Ireland where he had since made his home.
