OLIVER PERRY RANDOLPH

O. P. Randolph Dead.

Died Monday Morning at the Advanced Age of 70 Years.

After a several days’ sickness O. P. Randolph passed away at 3 o’clock Monday morning at his home in Ipava. The cause of death was cancer of the face. The deceased was 70 years of age.

O. P. Randolph was born in Fayette county, Penn., in 1830, and was united in marriage to Miss Isabella Balsinger in 1850, last March they having celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary.

To them were born twelve children, eight of whom, together with the wife, survive him. These children are Charles and Miss Maud Randolph and Mrs. Simmons of Ipava, John of Elmwood, Frank and Darrah of Colorado, Mrs. Delent of Peoria, and Mrs. C. I. Ball of Concord, Ill.

Mr. and Mrs. Randolph with children removed to Illinois in 1864 and settled near Astoria. He was living at that place when in 1880 he was nominated and elected sheriff of this county on the republican ticket and during his term of office resided in Lewistown. He was the first sheriff elected on the republican ticket in this county. Afterwards he removed to Ipava, where he lived up to the time of his death. For a number of years he was engaged in the drug business in Ipava and after selling out opened up a livery stable. He conducted the livery until about two months prior to his death, when he sold out. Mr. Randolph was in politics a republican, and was well and favorably known throughout the county.

He was a member of the Masonic order, having joined in 1854.

The funeral services will be held from the family residence, Tuesday, July 24, at 12:30 p.m., Rev. C. E. Freeman officiating.
