Winnetta PetersWinnetta Lurabelle Peters, 97, died Jan. 26, 2024, at her daughter’s home in Lewistown.

She was born Aug. 3, 1926, in Bryant, a daughter of Arlo Jackson and Winnetta Luela McCullough Ford.

For 12 years, she served as the manager at Kelly Ladies Retirement Home, touching many lives with her care until her retirement in 2004. She also offered her services as a house sitter, caring for the homes of others as if they were her own.

The mother of the late Maria L. (and David) Phillips of Wataga and Winnetta Lynn (and Jack) Danner of Lewistown, and sister to Winona Pawnee Algren of Galesburg, Winnetta’s love blossomed further to embrace six grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Bill Haney, Jack, Joe, Charles and infant James Ford, and her sister, Mary Helen Edwards, the legacy she leaves behind in her family’s hearts is eternal.

Cremation will be accorded and a Celebration of Life will be held April 6, 2024, at the Ford Family Memorial Park in Cuba. Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory in Galesburg is in charge of arrangements.

Celebration of Life for Winnetta Peters

A Celebration of Life for Winnetta Lurabelle Peters will be held from 2-4:30 p.m. Saturday, April 6. The Celebration will be held at the End of the Trail Ford Memorial Park, 11998 E. Harper Rd., Lewistown. There will be a short service at 2 p.m. followed by visiting, sharing memories and refreshments.
