Leonard PaulLeonard Ray Paul, 69, of rural Smithfield died at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 2, 2022, at his home.

He was born May 16, 1953, in Tacoma, Wash., a son of William “Bill” and Sharon Paul. He married Sheila Richey Paul on June 6, 1975. She survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Ledena (and Franki) Clark of Astoria and Letisha (and Kristofer) Trepac of Downs; two brothers, Bertrum Paul of Waylon, Mo., and Aaron (and Chris) Paul of Kahoka, Mo.; two sisters, Annette Huett of Waylon, Mo., and Crystal Allen of Colo.; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, David and Paul Henry.

In his early adulthood, he cleaned and dug wells with his father and brothers. After numerous jobs, he eventually became a day laborer as a member of Local #231, working primarily on road construction. He retired in 2015, but not being one to sit idle, he took up a part-time job at Kifco in Havana.

Visitation will be held from 5-6 p.m. Friday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria, with a service to follow with Pastor Darrin Fish officiating.
