He was born Aug. 22, 1954, in Springfield, a son of Phineas and Lacona Anderson Pierson. He married his first wife, Marsha Dambacher in 1973, but they later divorced. He then married Melanie Taapken on Feb. 17, 1993. She survives.
Also surviving are four children, Mendy (and George) Cave of Ashland, Wendy (and Jose) Ralat of Astoria, Rendy (and Justin) Kass of Cuba and Lendy (and fiancé Hannah Clark) Pierson of Havana; three stepchildren, David Boyer of Mantino, Vanessa (and Danny) Schafer of Dade City, Fla., and Valerie (and Jim) Klasinz of Athens; seven siblings, Stephen Pierson, Darrell Pierson, Randy Pierson, Kathy Colson, Patty (Peters) Arterdery, Kenny Fortney and Russell Fortney Jr.; 22 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant son, Frankie Pierson Jr.; one stepson, Chris Newingham; one grandson, Matthew Vaughn; four sisters, Linda Boyd, Beverly Hill, Shirley Miller and Karen Cox; and four brothers, Raymond Fortney, Danny Pierson, Charles Fortney and James “Jimmy” Pierson.
He belonged to the Route 97 Cruisers and was an avid classic car restorer and collector.
A visitation was held Saturday at Lintner-Hurley Funeral Home in Chandlerville. A graveside service was held at Oakford Cemetery in Oakford with Pastor Aaron Blakeley officiating.
Memorials may be made to Frankie’s wife, Melanie, to help with his final expenses.
