He was born June 28, 1935, in Astoria, a son of Wayne and Ina Shawgo Parr. He married Bernice Phillips Parr on June 10, 1955. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, James (and Sharlene) Parr of Kankakee and Tom (and Tina) Parr of Elmhurst; three daughters, Jeneice (and John) Waschle of Gardner, Juanita (and Dave) Landsmann of Bradley and Diana (and Bud) Gilbert of Metropolis; one brother, Larry Parr of Springfield; 13 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
He was a member of Bradley Church of Christ.
He was a teacher.
Services will be held at noon Wednesday at Schreffler Funeral Home, Kankakee Chapel in Kankakee with Jon Quinn officiating. Burial will be in Mound Grove Cemetery in Kankakee.
Memorials may be made to Disabled Veterans, St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Hospice of Kankakee Valley.
