John D. Pickering, 74, of Avon died at 6:55 a.m. Jan. 3, 2014, at Knox County Nursing Home in Knoxville.
He was born April 24, 1939, in Canton, a son of Carl E. and Margaret Moore Pickering.
Surviving are one brother, Bruce Pickering of Surprise, Ariz.; one sister, Mary Palmer of North Aurora; and five nieces and nephews.
He was an over-the-road truck driver.
He was a 1957 graduate of Avon High School.
Per his request, cremation rites have been accorded with no services. Burial will be in Ipava Cemetery. Shawgo Memorial Home in Ipava is in charge of arrangements.
