Iva Peters

Iva PetersIva Peters, 99, of Macomb, formerly of Rushville and Camden Township, died at 3:30 a.m. Aug. 27, 2013, at Wesley Village Healthcare in Macomb.

She was born Jan. 2, 1914, in Schuyler County, a daughter of Robert and Ada Bowers Ingles. She married Lewis Peters on April 15, 1933, in Macomb. He preceded her in death on April 15, 2010.

She also was preceded in death by three sons, Charles Kent Peters and twins Donald and Dean Peters; five brothers, Robert, Glenn, Bernard, Harold and Vernon Ingles; and four sisters, Lorene Hodges, Nina Pickenpaugh, Sylvia Payne and Verna Ingles in infancy.

Surviving are one daughter-in-law, Karen Peters of Macomb; one grandchild; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

She attended Schuyler Elementary School, Rushville High School and Spoon River College. She was a homemaker and beautician for many years.

She was a member of Bethany Church for over 50 years, where she taught Bible classes. In later years, she attended Argyle Bible Church near Argyle State Park.

She volunteered her time with Schuyler Jail Museum and Genealogical Center and Schuyler County Senior Citizens.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Wood Funeral Home in Rushville with Ron Peters officiating. Burial will follow in Rushville City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
