He was born Feb. 10, 1994, in Peoria, a son of Kevin E. Pilger and Cindy R. Chouinard Payne.
Surviving are his parents, Kevin Pilger of Washington and Cindy Payne of Chillicothe; two sisters, Jessica M. Benz of Lacon and Geordan R. Pilger of Chillicothe; and one brother, Kasey L. Pilger of Chillicothe; grandparents, Don and Sara Chouinard of Hopewell and Russell and Sheila Pilger of Peoria; one aunt, Michele Crabel of Chillicothe; and two uncles, Keith (and Jennifer) Pilger of San Antonio, Texas, and Kenneth Pilger of Macomb.
He worked at Taco Bell in Chillicothe and Peoria Civic Center.
He currently was a senior at Illinois Valley Central High School. He was in honors classes and was to be a teacher's assistant for Mrs. Heth.
He had been accepted into the U.S. Air Force into their Intelligence Apprenticeship Program.
He was active with Chillicothe Christian Church youth group and mission trips.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe with Rev. Robert Hentrich officiating. Burial will be in Chillicothe City Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Midwest Affiliate in memory of Joshua Pilger at Associated Bank or to ARK in Lacon.
