She was born Dec. 20, 1923, in Logan, a daughter of Ray and Ava Smith Melvin. She married Ernest E. Potts on May 29, 1943, in St. Charles, Mo. He preceded her in death on Jan. 24, 2004.
She also was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Bruce and Leonia Bowlby; and three brothers, Bill, Don and Smith Melvin.
Surviving are one daughter, Patty (and Jerry) Bubb of Astoria; one brother, Norman (and Pat) Melvin of Benton; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was a secretary for Liberty Mutual Insurance Company in Taylorville.
She was a member of Church of Christ Christian in Rushville.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Gary Sheets officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the memorial home. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Astoria.
