Jack PeakJack F. Peak, 79, of Rushville, formerly of Huntsville, died at 8:50 p.m. July 9, 2010, at Heritage Manor South in Beardstown.

He was born Dec. 28, 1930, in Fulton County, the son of Fred and Lora Fern France Peak. He married Phyllis Jean Farr on June 13, 1951, in Astoria. She survives.

Also surviving are six children, Brenda (and Larry) Shelts and Brian (and Nancy) Peak, both of Camden, Stephanie Downs, Lori (and Gareld) and Angie (and Mike Jr.) Dyche, all of Rushville and Stacie Kuta of St. Charles, Ill.; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1955.

He attended Ipava Grade School and graduated in 1949 from VIT High School.

He worked for B.F. Goodrich in Henry before moving to the Camden/Huntsville area in 1963, where he began farming until his retirement in April 2005.

He served on the Advisory Board of the Schuyler County School Board, a director of Camp Point Mutual Insurance Company, director of Jenson Woods Camp Board.

He was a member of Camden United Methodist Church, a 50-year member of Camden Masonic Lodge AF and AM #648 and Rushville Masonic Lodge AF and AM #9, Schuyler American Legion Post #4, Schuyler County Fair Board and Schuyler County Farm Bureau. He was named Master Farm Family in 1998 by Schuyler County Ag Day Committee.

Services were held Tuesday at Wood Funeral Home in Rushville with Rev. Dixie Croxton and Rev. Ron Cox officiating. Burial was in Rushville City Cemetery with military rites conducted by U.S. Navy Burial Detail and Schuyler American Legion Post #4.
