Lewis Peters

Lewis PetersLewis E. Peters, 97, of Macomb, formerly of Rushville and Camden Township, died at 9:57 a.m. April 15, 2010, at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.

He was born June 5, 1912, in Camden Township, Schuyler County, the son of Edward L. and Lena Eifert Peters. He married Iva Ingles on April 15, 1933, in Macomb. She survives.

Also surviving are one daughter-in-law, Karen Peters of Macomb; one granddaughter, Michelle Powers of Dekalb; and one great-grandson, Aidan Powers.

He was preceded in death by three sons, Donald and Dean Peters, who died in infancy and Charles Kent Peters.

He was a graduate of Rushville High School.

He was a longtime farmer, retiring in 1990.

He was a member of Bethany Church near Camden, where he served over 50 years in various positions. In later years, he attended Argyle Bible Church near Argyle State Park.

He served on the boards of Schuyler County Farm Bureau, Culbertson Memorial Hospital and school Advisory Board, and a member of Schuyler Singers and Spoon River Singers.

Services were held Monday at Wood Funeral Home in Rushville with Ron Peters officiating. Burial was in Rushville City Cemetery. Wood Funeral Home in Rushville was in charge of arrangements.
