Darlene PhillipsDarlene Phillips, 83, of Heartland Healthcare Center in Galesburg, formerly of Cuba, died at 1:03 p.m. March 13, 2010, at the care center.

She was born July 15, 1926, in St. Joseph, Mo., a daughter of Terry and Sadie Sowders Dickerson. She married William C. Phillips on Sept. 5, 1944, in Iowa City, Iowa. He died Sept. 21, 1979.

She also was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.

Surviving are one son, David (and Leanne) Phillips of Knoxville; three daughters, Ellen (and Bernie) Escamilla of Chillicothe, Diana Phillips of Belle Fountaine, Ohio, and Vicky (and Roger) Wasson of Aptos, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

She moved to Colorado in 1983 where she lived in Denver and Littleton. While in Colorado, she worked as a church secretary. She then moved to California in 1992 and lived there until 1996, when she moved back to Illinois.

She was a member of United Methodist Church.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Cuba with Pastor David Shreeves officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at the memorial home. Burial will be in Cuba Cemetery.
