ROXIE F. (PARSONS) PITTMAN

Roxie Pittman

Roxie F. Pittman, 82, of Astoria died at 7:35 p.m. March 18, 2008, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

She was born July 20, 1925, in Woodford County, a daughter of Dale and Gertrude Kennedy Parsons. She married Charles F. Pittman on Aug. 11, 1950, in Eureka. He died April 9, 2005.

She also was preceded in death by one brother, Charles “Shy” Parsons.

Surviving are two daughters, Camilla (and Ron) Southerd of Astoria and Roxanna (and Rev. Dan) Cole of Omaha, Neb.; one son, Dale (and Linda) Pittman of Astoria; two sisters, Margaret Kaufman of Congerville and Irma Jean Ioeger of Eureka; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Before her marriage to Charles, she worked at Hornsby’s and Libby Canning Plant, both in Eureka.

She was a member of Eureka Church of the Nazarene and a charter member of Astoria Church of the Nazarene.

Services were held Saturday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Rev. Dan Cole officiating. Burial was in Woodland Cemetery in Astoria.

Memorials may be made to Astoria Fire and Rescue Squad or American Heart Association.
