Ruth G. Poen, 82, of Ipava died at 9:25 p.m. Friday, June 20, 2003, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.
She was born July 21, 1920, in Hastings, Neb., a daughter of Ben and Hilka Poen Staggs. She married Herman J. Poen on Aug. 14, 1939, in Carnarvon, Iowa. He survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Zelda Esselman of Greenview and Judy (and Kenneth) Reynolds of Table Grove; one son, Rick (and Beth) of Bourbonnais; one sister, Harlyn Frank of Carroll, Iowa; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Staggs.
She was a homemaker.
Services were held Monday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Ipava with Rev. Cliff Parry officiating. Burial was in Ipava Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Astoria Gardens & Rehab Center.
