Ruth Painter

Ruth A. Painter, 83, of Rushville, formerly of London Mills, died at 2:18 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, 2001, at Snyder's Vaughn-Haven Nursing Home.

She was born Oct. 7, 1918, near London Mills, a daughter of Fred T. and Ada Lewis Ulm. She married Dwight H. Painter on Dec. 24, 1938, in London Mills. He died Aug. 31, 1973.

She also was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

Surviving are one daughter, Deanna (and David) Peterman of Astoria; one grandson, Jeffrey (and Dean) Wilcoxen of Abingdon; five step-grandchildren, including Penny (and Rodney) Bollinger of Marquette Heights; 12 step-great-grandchildren; 10 step-great-great-grandchildren; and 14 nieces and nephews.

She worked at Gale Products in Galesburg and C&R Market in London Mills before retiring in 1980.

Graveside services were held Tuesday at West Midway Cemetery near London Mills with Rev. John Simpson officiating. Worthington Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
