Arthur W. Powell, 78, of rural Ellisville, died at 6:52 p.m. Tuesday, May 22, 1990, at Graham Hospital in Canton, from injuries sustained when a roof fell on him April 13.
He was born June 1, 1911, in Astoria, a son of William and Lillie Curless Powell. He married Helen Noland on June 27, 1936, in Canton. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Gordon and David, both of Ellisville; one daughter, Caroline Svob of Canton; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.
He worked for International Harvester Co. for 43 years retiring in 1972. He also farmed in the area for many years and was a member of Fulton County Farm Bureau.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Friday at Murphys-Sedgwick Memorial Home in Canton with Rev. Kevin Bates officiating. Burial was in the Ellisville Cemetery.
