Hazel E. Pollitt Dies In Hospital

Hazel E. Pollitt, 65, of rural Lewistown, died at 12:55 a.m. Friday at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

She was born Sept. 24, 1924, in Deerfield Township, Fulton County, the daughter of Harry Alfred and Gladys M. (Skinner) Myers. She married Guy M. Pollitt on Dec. 4, 1946, in Canton. He died Jan. 22, 1978.

She was also preceded in death by one son, one daughter, and one brother.

Survivors include three sons, Norman of Canton, Lloyd of Arlington, Va., and Harry of Carlinville; two daughters, Gloria Kaler of Snicarte and Joyce Stiver of Mowreystown, Ohio; 20 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; six brothers, Thomas, Richard, and Glenn, all of Canton, John of Peoria, and Benjamin and Robert, both of Phoenix, Ariz.; and two sisters, Mabel Culberson and Violet Meier, both of Phoenix.

She was a watchman for Freeman Coal Co. for 11 years and a member of the Canton Moose Lodge 369.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday at Murphy-Sedgwick Memorial Home Chapel with Rev. David Seitz officiating. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery.
