Bertha E. Parks Dies At Age 101

Mrs. Bertha E. Parks, 101, a resident of the Elms Nursing Home in Macomb, died there at 7:05 a.m., Thursday, April 6, 1989. She formerly lived in Colchester and rural Plymouth.

She was born Oct. 31, 1887, in rural Colchester, a daughter of Sylvester and Josephine (Bodenhammer) Robinson. She married Everett E. Parks Oct. 30, 1918, in Macomb. He died Jan. 28, 1967.

She was also preceded in death by six brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include two sons, Merle Parks of Colchester and Paul Parks of Table Grove; two daughters, Mrs. Doris Matthews of Tennessee, and Mrs. Mary Cook of Macomb; 14 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.

She was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Jones Mortuary in Colchester with Rev. Cheryl Henson officiating. Burial was at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

Memorials may be made to the Elms Nursing Home or to her church.
