Mrs. Emma Parrish Dead

IPAVA — Mrs. Emma Parrish, 81, died early Tuesday morning, Nov. 12 at home of her daughter, Mrs. Leonard Horwedel of near Galesburg.

Emma Roddis, daughter of Samuel and Louisa Roddis, was born in Stratford, England, Jan. 19, 1859. At the age of 24 she came to this country with her parents. She was married on June 2, 1884 to James K. Parrish of Ipava, who died in 1893.

To this union were born three children, Mrs. Leonard Horwedel of Galesburg, Mrs. Louis Cook, Lewistown, and Samuel Parrish of Canton, besides a stepdaughter, Mrs. Nora Staley of Aledo, a sister, Mrs. Alice Ward of Des Moines, Iowa; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She being a former Ipava lady, had never taken her membership away from the Ipava Christian church.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon from the Ipava Christian church at 2 o’clock, Rev. E. E. Catlin officiating. Pallbearers were: Donald Horwedel, Gordon Davis, James Parrish, Everett Lightle, Robert Banter, Gail Roddis. Mrs. Edward Gray and Mrs. Glen Shaver sang, with Miss Imogene Kimmel at the piano. Burial in Ipava cemetery.
