VeteranBody Arrives In New York

Bert ParkerThe body of Corporal Bert A. Parker arrived in New York Wednesday from France. On its arrival in Astoria funeral services will be held and burial will take place in the Astoria cemetery.

Corp. Parker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lon Parker residing west of Astoria, died in France Oct. 6, 1918. Death was due to bronchial pneumonia. He was brought in from the front line trenches to the base hospital on Oct. 1st, and died 5 days later.

Corp. Parker went into service, May 27, 1918 and had been over seas since August of that year. He was in Company A. 322 machine gun battalion.

Corp. Parker was born in Walnut Grove and at the time of his death was aged 27 years. Besides his parents he is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Lola Wright and Mrs. Mary A. Settles, both of Schuyler county and Dottie Wright at home and three brothers, John of Schuyler, Clyde and Lloyd at home.
