Aged Lady Is Laid To Rest

Mrs. E. J. Parry whose maiden name was Julia A. Jennings, was born in Coshocton, Ohio, April 18, 1837 and in 1855 came to Astoria, where she has resided since that year. Jan. 14, 1858 she was united in marriage to E. J. Parry and to them was born an only son, C. J. Parry. Death claimed Mrs. Parry, Feb. 9th, 1920, after a long and useful life of almost 83 years. Her husband passed away Jan. 5th, 1907 and his death was triumphant in the faith.

Although Mr. and Mrs. Parry had but one son of their own their home was a haven for orphans, as they carefully reared and cared for ten children. Their generous hospitality was always open to the prophets of God and many a weary minister has been refreshed and helped by spending days in their home. Mrs. Parry united with the Methodist church in Coshocton, Ohio, 71 years ago and her consecrated Christian character has touched and lifted innumerable lives to a desire for higher and better ideals. She was for years a faithful teacher in the S. S., and her influence in that capacity has been far reaching indeed. Mrs. Parry and her husband were pioneers in the truest and deepest sense their lives and work in this community have been of more value than can well be realized. Especially in regard to church life and its welfare is this true and such a wonderful heritage will live on and on in the lives of their friends and neighbors. Mrs. Parry was indeed ready to meet her Master, and when the summons came, her saintly soul passed peacefully and triumphantly on to her reward. Besides her son, Mrs. Parry is survived by one granddaughter, Mrs. Blanche Feamon, two great-grandchildren, Perry Robert Feamon, aged 28 months and Charlotte Ann Feamon, aged 16 days, one sister, Mary Ramer of Lafayette, Ind., one brother, Mr. Jennings, South McAllister, Okla. One sister, Nancy Ramer and three brothers, Robert, James and Wilson, deceased.

Funeral services were held Thursday at 2 o’clock at the Oak Grove church, conducted by Rev. S. W. Williams. Burial in cemetery near by.
