Howard Petefish, a well known farmer residing north of Jacksonville, shot and killed his wife and then took his own life by taking strychnine and driving a bullet thru his own brain. The couple had had trouble for some time and Mrs. Petefish instituted divorce proceedings. Mr. and Mrs. Petefish owned nearly 300 acres of Morgan county land and notes and money have been found amounting to about $7,000.
