She was born Feb. 17, 1925, near Ripley, the daughter of Harvey E. and Dena DeWitt Hughes. She married Odell Owens on May 6, 1945. He preceded her in death on Feb. 18, 2000.
She also was preceded in death by one brother, Elton Hughes of San Jose, Calif.
Surviving are two sons, Danny O. (and Dianne) Owens of Lenexa, Kan., and Todd M. (and Amy) Owens of Garland, Texas; and two grandchildren.
After graduating from Rushville High School in 1944, she went on to obtain her cosmetologist license and operated her own salon in Rushville during the late 1940s.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Ripley Cemetery with Reverend Steve Pichaske officiating. Wood Funeral Home in Rushville is in charge of arrangements.
