VeteranFred Oblander Of Bushnell Dies

Fred C. Oblander, 77, of Little Swan Lake, Avon, a retired businessman, died at 9 p.m. Monday, April 23, 1990, in his home.

He was born July 13, 1913 at rural Bushnell, a son of George and Ida (Walters) Oblander. He first married Arleyne Smith on June 3, 1940 at Davenport, Iowa. She died April 5, 1979. He later married Helen Miller April 27, 1980 in Bushnell. She survives.

Mr. Oblander owned and operated Oblander Hardware Store in Bushnell for 26 years, retiring in 1978. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Rolling River Ramblers Camping Club for many years.

Surviving besides his wife are two daughters, Joan Garrison of Tacoma, Wash., and Sandy Havens of Galesburg; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one step-daughter, Sandy White of Avon; one step-son, Lowell Miller of Tulsa, Okla.; and three step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a grandson.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Martin-Hollis Funeral Home with Rev. Stan Coller officiating. Burial was in Bushnell Cemetery.
