VeteranMilton W. Orwig Dies At Age 85

Milton W. Orwig, 85, of Smithfield died at 9:33 a.m. Wednesday, June 25, 1980, in Graham Hospital, Canton. He had been ill several months.

Born in Cass Township March 17, 1895, a son of John W. and Frances E. Helle Orwig, he married Rosie O’Lane Sept. 16, 1946, in Smithfield.

Surviving are his wife; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Bridget Gray of London Mills; a step-grandchild; one brother, Henry Orwig of Astoria; and two sisters, Mrs. Martha Moore of Cuba and Mrs. Catherine Herrick of Smithfield.

Five brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.

A farmer all his adult life, he was a member of Fulton County Farm Bureau, and Brock United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of World War I, Army, and a member of Russell Smith American Legion Post, Disabled American Veterans and Veterans of World War I.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Brock United Methodist Church with Rev. Ronald Brock officiating. Burial was in Baughman Cemetery.
