Elvie NorrisElvie E. Norris, 88, of Astoria died at 11:14 a.m. April 11, 2018, at home.

He was born Sept. 15, 1929, in rural Macomb, a son of Jesse and Mettie Owens Norris. He married Shirley Riebling on Aug. 9, 1953, in Adair. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Ken (and Stacy Tew-Lovasz) Norris of St. Louis, Mo., and Kevin (and Tarra) Norris of Taylorville; three grandchildren; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Tina Norris; two brothers, Roger and Glen Norris; and three sisters, Maxine Kitch, Evelyn Phillips and Aleyne Roberts.

He was a farmer. He also worked at the Ken-Ray Foundry in Vermont and Astoria Fiber Steel and Skiles Fertilizer, both in Astoria. He was custodian at Astoria Schools for 9 years.

He was a member of Grace Bible Church in Astoria and the South Fulton Antique Tractor Club. He was involved in Scouting for 15 years and served as Scoutmaster in Astoria for 10 of those.

Services were held Monday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Pastor Ben Murray officiating. Burial was in Industry Cemetery.
