Mildred Vogler-NellMildred (Peg) L. Vogler-Nell, 95, of Rushville died at 12:33 a.m. July 18, 2017, at Farmington Country Manor.

She was born July 9, 1922, in Schuyler County, a daughter of Earnest and Minnie Johnson-Vogler. She married James E. Nell on June 16, 1967, in Clark County, Nev. He preceded her in death on July 16, 2000.

She also was preceded in death by one son, Larry Curtis; one daughter, Regina Nell-Stephenson; one granddaughter, Robin Heaton; two sisters, Irene Cripe and Hazel Crum; and one brother, Clinton Vogler.

Surviving are three daughters, Janet Heaton of Rushville, Dixie (and Bob) Hierman of Mapleton and Penny Beckstead of Mesa, Ariz.; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She lived in Schuyler County most of her childhood life. As an adult, she moved to Macomb and worked at Billy Woo’s Restaurant for 13 years until her marriage to James Nell in 1967. Together they lived in Phoenix and Mesa, Ariz., for seven years before returning to Quincy in 1973. They later moved to Rushville to farm. Because of Jimmy’s health issues they moved to town in 2000, where Mildred resided for 16 years until moving to Farmington Country Manor.

She worked numerous places during her career including Arizona Public Schools, Dickson Electronics, Motorola, Davison and Cleaver and Snyder’s Vaughn Haven Nursing Home.

Funeral services were held Saturday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Rev. Carl Wiggins officiating. Burial was in Rushville City Cemetery.
