Ruth NelsonRuth "Timmie" Nelson, 91, of Cuba died at 7:40 a.m. Oct. 3, 2006, at Clayberg Nursing Home in Cuba.

She was born July 6, 1915, in Hoopeston, the daughter of Clyde E. Sr. and Blanche Newman Timmons. She married James W. Nelson on Aug. 17, 1941, in Hoopeston. He died July 21, 2006.

She also was preceded in death by one brother, Clyde E. Timmons Jr.

Surviving are one son, Jim of St. Joseph, Mich.; two daughters, Sue Nelson Pate of Maitland, Fla., and Janet Nelson Wallis of Mountain Home, Ariz.; one brother, Robert Timmons of Groveland, Fla.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

She attended Cuba United Methodist Church.

She was a 1937 graduate of Eureka College in Eureka, and a member and former president of Phi Omega Sorority. She was a school teacher at Bismarck from 1938-1941. She taught at Spoon River Valley Community District #4 from 1961-1988.

Services were held Friday at Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Cuba with Rev. Joe Tomich officiating. Burial was in Cuba Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association Central Illinois Chapter or Clayberg Nursing Home Activity Fund.
