MONA SARAH (FORD) NEWBURN

Mona Newburn

Mona Sarah Newburn, 90, of Cuba died at 8:25 a.m. July 24, 2006, at the Clayberg Nursing Home.

She was born April 21, 1916, in Fountain Run, Ky., a daughter of Zack and Nora Creek Ford. She married Howard Newburn on Sept. 27, 1937, in Keokuk, Iowa. He died May 22, 1977.

She also was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.

Surviving are one daughter, Shirley (and Dick) DeLost of Cuba; one brother, Paul (and Wanda) Ford of Cuba; one grandson; and one great-granddaughter.

She had worked as a cook at the Cuba High School for 18 years.

She was a member of Cuba Christian Church and its women's club. She also was a member of the Cuba American Legion Auxiliary.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Cuba with Rev. Amy Wharton officiating. Burial will be in Cuba Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services.

Memorials may be made to the Clayberg Nursing Home Activity Fund or to her church.
