She was born April 26, 1911, in Eldorado Township, McDonough County, a daughter of Franklin and Myrtle Wilshart Sears. She married Aubrey Nielsen on June 12, 1939, in Winfield, Iowa. He died April 9, 1979.
She also was preceded in death by two sisters.
Surviving are one nephew, Steve (and Karen) Beghtol of Rushville.
She and her husband owned and operated Red & White Market in Vermont for 38 years.
She was a clerk at the Vermont Post Office for 13 years and was an aide at the Astoria School Library for 13 years, retiring in October 1994.
She was a member of the Vermont American Legion Auxiliary.
She was a past worthy matron of Order of the Eastern Star, Vermont Chapter.
She was a member of Vermont United Methodist Church.
Graveside services were held Monday at Vermont Cemetery with Rev. Scott Henley officiating. Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville was in charge of arrangements.
