Dana G. Nelson Dies At Age 94

Dana G. Nelson, 94, a patient at Astoria Care Center, formerly of Vermont, died at 1:13 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24, 1980, in Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.

He owned and operated Nelson’s Hardware Store in Vermont 27 years. He was a 75-year member of Masonic Lodge 116, AF&AM.

Born Sept. 28, 1885, in Vermont, a son of Edmund and Martha Provine Nelson, he married Stella Smith Nov. 17, 1917, in El Paso. She died Jan. 30, 1978. Two sisters also preceded him in death.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Lorena Rankin of Grafton and Mrs. Merilee Collier of Arcadia, Fla.; one son, William of Springerville, Ariz.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Kost Memorial Home. Burial will be in the Vermont Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. this evening at Kost’s.
