ALBERT J. NEVILLE

Unusual Request Left Relatives And Friends

Albert J. Neville, 87, of Canton, widely known and esteemed retired farmer, died suddenly in his home Wednesday in Canton. He left instructions for his relatives and friends “to laugh and be happy” at his funeral. He was buried Friday.

He had written his own obituary and left a note saying he did not want “any sorrow” over his passing. He requested relatives and friends “to laugh and be happy.”

“I’ve lived to a ripe old age and there is no need for sorrow,” Neville said in a message left for relatives.

In addition he left an envelope containing funds which he specified should be used to “entertain” relatives and old friends at dinner after his funeral services.
