She was born Aug. 26, 1943, in Rushville, a daughter of Loren Otis Langner and Eleanor Kathleen Persinger Strong. She married Allen Zeeck on June 17, 1962, in Rushville. She later married Gerald Merritt on April 19, 1991, in Rushville. He preceded her in death on Nov. 14, 2014.
Surviving are three sons, Mike Zeeck and Tami, Jeff Zeeck and Terri and Tim Zeeck and April, all of Rushville; one stepdaughter, Jenny Hester and Jeremie of San Marcos, Calif.; one stepson, Steve Merritt and Jessica of Davenport, Iowa; two sisters, Christie Cox and Jean Lane; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was a member of Rushville First United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and played with the bell choir. She also was a member of Schuyler Singers and Pandora’s Playhouse. She had a great passion for teaching which she did for 40 years.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Rushville First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall with Rev. Stacy Tomich officiating. Inurnment was in Rushville City Cemetery. Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville was in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to Rushville First United Methodist Church, RIHS Performing Arts Center or Cass-Schuyler Hospice.
