James MooreJames Neill “Jim” Moore, 96, of Rushville died at 5:29 a.m. Oct. 16, 2021, at Bickford Cottage in Macomb.

He was born Dec. 18, 1924, the son of Jesse and Fanny Bates Moore. He married Edith Ellen Hipple on June 16, 1962, in Rushville. She preceded him in death on July 24, 2013.

Surviving are one son, David James Moore of Rushville; three granddaughters, Carissa (and Zac) O’Donoghue of Lincoln, Breanna (and Kooten) Johnson of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Riley Clay (and fiancé Nic Cox) of Rushville; and two great-grandchildren.

He graduated from Rushville High School in 1942. He was a lifelong farmer who lived in the same family farmhouse his entire life.

He helped his son raise and show purebred Hampshire hogs. He also coached his son’s flag football team.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church and was president of Health Insurance Association for many years.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Wood Funeral Home in Rushville with David Haney officiating. Burial will follow in the Rushville City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home in Rushville.

Memorials may be made to the Schuyler County Humane Society or First United Methodist Church in Rushville.
