She was born Aug. 1, 1922, in Danbury, Wis., the daughter of Jesse and Alice Sears Root. She married James F. McDonald on March 23, 1939, in Palmyra, Mo. He preceded her in death on Feb. 23, 1984.
Surviving are three daughters, Helen Marie (and Wayne) Diseron of Rushville, Marilyn Faye (and Monte) Emmons of Lewistown and Judith Colleen Coulter of Las Vegas, Nev.; three brothers, Donald (and Mary) Root of Rushville, George (and Gwen) Root of Gillespie and Larry (and Nancy) Root of Lexington, Mo.; 12 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Ronald Frederick McDonald; one daughter, Martha Louise Cooper; two brothers, Eldred Root and LaVern Root; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She was a custodian at Augustana College for many years.
She was a member of Rushville Free Methodist Church.
Funeral services were held Friday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Mr. David Haney officiating. Burial was in Rushville City Cemetery.
